Let it ..Snow..Snow!

Well, winter is here! It has snowed all week. We have gotten stuck a few times...until we got the car into 4 wheel drive, then we were giving other neighbors a ride to their houses since their cars were also stuck!
This month has been very busy...but I guess that is normal for December! Even with feeling organized and working less than normal, we are still so busy and behind!
Christmas singing has been the fun this week for Cassidee and parties at school for the other kids! They are SO excited for Christmas they can hardly stand it! They are very excited for the snow since that is how Santa will get here (at least they assume he is coming)! They have had fun buying presents for each other this year...especially Cody...having a real job and all!
Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year to each of you!

Family Pictures

We had our family pictures taken this weekend! They turned out great! I am bummed that we didn't take some other combination's of kids etc. but we were so cold up in the canyon that I think my brain was frozen and didn't think about it at the time! Oh well....I have very photogenic kids...they definitely didn't get it from me!

Time for basketball?!

Well....it is now time for basketball tryouts! Both Cody and Austin start try outs today! Cody had his first session at 5:30 a.m.! Way to early! He has another one at 5:00 p.m. where they will make the first cuts. Austin has his at 3:30 p.m. and is expecting first cuts as well...we will see! It is amazing that my 6 foot, 16 year old son is one of the shortest that is trying out! He is one of the very fastest though so we will see. He hasn't really been practicing and doesn't plan to make the team but thought it would be fun to try out anyway...nothing to lose! Cross your fingers (as if we aren't busy enough...one more sport!)

Halloween

I guess since it IS Halloween, I should post some pictures of the girls in their costumes?! It is weird this year...they are all hanging out with friends so there was no need for me to dress up! I am okay with that though! The boys both went dressed and Ranger Soccer players....as if they don't wear that costume almost daily anyway!

Twilight...midnight showing!

Yes....we have tickets for the midnight showing of Twilight! Can you believe...my boys are going with me?! It is funny to me that they want to see it when they tease me the most about being obsessed (which I am NOT)!
Austin, Cassidee and I have been reading the book together. I will do anything to get my kids to read...especially Austin and Cassidee...well, almost anything. I am actually reading to them every night and they are enjoying it AND getting the english credit that they need for class!
I am SO excited to see the movie...2 hours and 10 minutes won't be long enough but I guess there is no limit to the number of times that I can see it?!

Did you know?

Did you hear that google has taken a political stand on Proposition 8 in California? I have decided to boycott google for this. Even though I believe strongly in marriage between a man and a woman and I do think that people have their agency, it is NOT appropriate for a company, especially for one as large as google, to take a political stand at all. They need to stick to business, not politics.
Here is a link to googles explanation:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/our-position-on-californias-no-on-8.html
and here is a great blog from Linda Adams....she says exactly what I feel....but she is a writer and says it much better than I do:
http://home.sprintmail.com/~adamszoo/linda/
Linda is a great author...I have read some of her books...but her points and opinions are perfect!
Anyway, I will be looking for a new place to move my blogs and I hope you will join me in this boycott. Change your search engines and your email addresses as well as blogs if you can!

A Scary Weekend!

Well, State Cup Soccer started this weekend! It is always very intense when you are playing in state cup since every team wants to be the #1 team in Utah! Austin's game was first and he play great! He scored a goal with his head...again and his team won 2-0! It was very cold during his game with all clouds and no sun!
Cody's game was a little later in the day and the sun decided to come out for a bit! I think it actually climbed to around 43 degrees by the start of his game! At 30 min. into the game, Cody got hit in the head by our goalie when the two of them and one of the other team's player all went up for the ball. Cody was instantly knocked out and started to have a seizure. This was one of the scariest things that I have ever seen....watching your child have a seizure and struggle to breathe! We are grateful for the doctor that was there instantly and handled things so perfectly! Austin was the one to dial 911 (many people actually dialed). By the time the ambulance got there, Cody was alert with slurred speech but knew who he was and were he was. By the time we got to the hospital he remembered pretty much everything. It was very scar for all of us and especially for Cody, once he realized what was happening! The CT scan was normal and we saw his regular doctor yesterday. The good news is that everything that happened was completely normal and he shouldn't have any future problems. The bad news is that he can't play any contact sports for 2 weeks! He is not very happy about missing state cup games but we want him safe. The diagnosis was actually a level 3 concussion. That is now his excuse for everything....can't go to work, can't do the dishes etc.... "I have a concussion"! We are just happy that he is okay. I feel that he had some guardian angels watching over him. Especially when he asked if he had received 2 blessings...he only received one from his coach in the ambulance.

Fall is Here!

Well, fall is officially here! With conference weekend and all of the rain, it is cold once again. It may warm up this week but we defnitely need to keep the jackets available and may have to put the flip flops away?!
State Cup will start this week for Soccer.  I enjoy this time of the year. We are looking forward to having our afternoons and evenings back to ourselves again!
Ashlee went to the homecoming dance a couple of weeks ago. That was really fun for her! Then, last weekend, the girls and I went to California. We had been planning this for a year since it was the Heritage Makers annual Reunion. The girls spent 3 days at Disneyland with McKenna and Grandpa Naylor while Traci sat in meetings and classes! They were great! Then we all went to Disneyland together on Saturday night which was a ton of fun!

Summer is over....

The summer got so crazy busy with 4 weeks in a row of Soccer Tournaments from Colorado to Layton to Park City to Sandy! Lots of time in the car and no time to blog!
They were great tournaments and I never get tired of watching my boys play soccer! It was very hard for them to go back to school this week but so good for me to have my mornings back so that I can actually work! I have so much Heritage Makers work waiting for me and need to get busy!
I am very excited for the fall! I love this time of year and I love helping customers make some great Christmas gifts! Are your Christmas projects done?!

Home.....and off again!

Cody returned from Nauvoo on Saturday night! He LOVED it and couldn't stop talking! He wanted to download all of his pictures onto the computer right away so that we could all see them! I am so grateful for his experience (and a little jealous)! He is such a great kid with such a strong testimony! We washed his clothes and packed again....off to his hi-adventure scout camp! It doesn't really sound much like camping....pizza hut, river rafting, biking, movies, fast food, hiking....all in Moab....how fun is that!
Austin left this morning for his scout camp as well. He will be finishing up all of his needed merit badges so that he can get started on his eagle project! We need to find eagle projects for Cody and Austin! So much to do...so little time!
Cassidee left for Clear Creek camp this morning! She is my 4th and last one to attend! It is such a great experience for them but it was hard to let my baby go! She was nervous but also excited to be with all of her friends! This will be her first time away from home for this many days! I am sure she will have a blast!
Ashlee and I are off to St. George....a little work and a little play.....we needed a little break!

Off to Nauvoo

Cody left for EFY in Nauvoo yesterday. I was getting a little nervous a couple of weeks ago with the flooding...hoping it didn't reach much in Nauvoo. He was so excited to go and especially to go into the Nauvoo temple and participate in Baptisms for the Dead...what an amazing experience that will be! He still remembers attending the dedication of the Nauvoo temple at our Stake Center several years ago and has always wanted to be there. I am so excited for him! I threatened him with his picture taking this year....girls in every picture are okay but I would like to see the church sites in the pictures as well!
We will post them when he gets home this weekend! Then he gets to turn around and leave for Moab Hi Adventure Scout camp...busy month for him!

Summer...finally!

Well, after tons of cold and rain....it is so nice to have summer temperatures again! Our pool actually opened this weekend and the kids are so excited. Ashlee plans to swim everyday this summer and I know it will be great exercise for her!
The boys started summer soccer training this week. They have to get up early but it is so good for them and they really enjoy it.
Be sure to share your blog with us so that we can link you! It is so fun to look at each other's blogs!

Starting Over...

Well, I started a blog last fall but wasn't very good at keeping up on it so I guess I am going to try again. This time I think I will teach the kids how to use it as well so that they can help me stay caught up!
Last week was a nail biting week with the boys trying out for their soccer teams again. Many new boys showed up this year so it made us all very nervous but in the end it was okay...they both ended up back on their Premier teams! Yeah!
Cody also started a 'real' job recently. It is so nice for him to have his own money. Ashlee isn't having much luck in finding a job but we will just keep looking!
Cassidee spends every day playing with friends....that is nothing new! Austin just returned from EFY at BYU this week. He had a great time and I am grateful for this experience in my teenagers' lives.
